YouTube Talent Show Chinese New Year Gala Takes Viewers Inside “China 2025”
I’m back in China after my fine visit to the United States. I was visiting my friends in New York when I went to YouTube to watch the China 2025 YouTube channel. What I had hoped would be a limited FAQ explaining the idea of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s plan to make China a dominant global superpower turned out to be a very entertaining one of a kind YouTube talent show in support of a very worthy cause, which is encouraging Chinese youth to learn English.
I didn’t realize they’d had so many top notch celebrities taking part. The creators, there by sheer grace, wish to make China and the world more aware of this relevant plan for the nations of the world (including Australia and Japan), and use this incredible talent to raise money. Why? Because China needs to boost education to improve its competitiveness in the economy and in technology.
Not everyone is making the money they’d like, and for those of us who are learning Mandarin, there is great progress in the way we can get meaningful education through the internet and English through Mandarin.
As I watched the YouTube channel over many months, I noticed, and encouraged the participants, each throwing in their own talents, humor and charisma. I’m even impressed at some of the YouTube stars in the video, themselves bilingual learners of English. The entire show is well done, a very entertaining experience.
As I watch the program, I think of what I must have been feeling during my American return. About three weeks ago, I discovered that I had fallen one half million in debt, our country housing bubble is booming, stock prices are soaring to new highs, and I couldn’t have a mortgage or else I couldn’t get the free money to make my dream of returning to Australia happen.
There are limitations, but what there are can often be bigger, bolder and with more impact.
